Chris Barney, started his own residential site work company in Bunnell back in 1995. He started out setting building pads with just one skidsteer. As the housing market in Palm Coast grew, the demand for residential site work increased. Chris grew his small company from one operator and one skidsteer to several pieces of equipment and a commercial property, allowing him to expand his scope to full residential site work. Prior to being self employed Chris worked as a foreman for an Underground Utility contractor and owned his own trucking company in Pennsylvania. Just before the recession, Chris became a State Certified Underground Utility Contractor and made the transition to commercial site work. In 2012, Chris' oldest daughter, Chelsea, came to work with her dad. She worked underneath of the pipe foreman out in the field before she moved into the office to take on a project management role. In 2013 Chelsea obtained her Bachelor's in Business Administration and went on to earn her State Certified General Contractor's and Contractor V license. She has since taken on the responsibility of Operations Manager and Vice President of the company. Also in 2013, 4C'S purchased Bunnell's former Cypress Plant, the mulch yard was a great economic asset to the community before going out of business in 2006. 4C'S has turned this 28 acre abandoned yard and reminder of the area's hard times into a looking glass for a bright future.
Over the last twenty years 4C's has grown substantially. From a small, one man crew and skidsteer, Chris' ambition, vision and knowledge have propelled 4C'S into being one of the area's top site work and utility contractors. 4C'S now employs three pipe crews, a land clearing crew, two grade crews, a concrete crew, five dump trucks and a fleet of equipment. With the support of his famiy and community as well as the involvement of his daughter, Chris and the crew at 4C'S are only getting better, come watch us grow!
